Obituary of Barry Maloney

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Barry Maloney, on May 27, 2021 at the age of 67. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Rita Maloney. Barry will be deeply missed by his loving son Sean (Chrystyna), his adorable grandchildren Layla and William and step granddaughter Hope, and his close brother Robert (Evelyn) and sisters Sharon (Jack Ogilvie) and Shirley (John Oesterle). He leaves behind his girlfriend and dancing partner, Helen Real.

Barry was the joking Uncle to nieces and nephews Kristie (Jamie), Corey (Nicole), Brandon (Kristen), Stephanie (Clay) Chelsea and Alan and great uncle to their children Avery, Brooklyn, Jack, Kennedi, Andi, Tessa and Chase. Also grieving are Sean’s mother Louise Vaux as well as close friends, including Conny Udri.

Music played a big part in his life.  He was involved in bands in his younger days and as the years passed, he enjoyed listening to music and was a showboat on the dancefloor, often outperforming those much younger than him.

Barry was a helpful person, known to happily lend neighbours a hand when they required assistance.

Sadly, Barry struggled with mental health issues. It is in his spirit that the family requests those who wish to contribute to a cause, donate to the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre or a mental health facility of your choice.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no funeral service or reception.
