My deep sympathy and condolences to Bob's family. It was Bob who recruited me to come to Ottawa 40 years ago and it was a fabulous journey through those many years. It seemed there was never a dull moment. He did it all - patient care, research, administration and teaching and his wry sense of humour was legendary.

Dr. McKendry and I were classmates for six years at Queen’s. He arrived at Leonard Hall in Sept., 1962 at the same time as myself and we lived on the same floor. He was always fair, friendly and funny. I spent valuable time with his father at the Civic and found that father and son were alike. Later, we met up and often had lunch when he did consults in Arnprior. The last time I saw Dr. McKendry was when I was in one of his drug trials at his office. He will be greatly missed by all that had the good fortune to know him. Peter Ranson

We are all sorry to hear of Dr. McKendry’s death. Our sincere sympathy to you his family. We would like to share our memory of him with you.
Our daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile rheumatoid Arthritis when she was 12 years old. When she turned 18 and could no longer be cared for at CHEO, she was transferred to Ottawa General Hospital and became a patient of Dr. McKendry. When she went to North Bay to study, he gave her his phone number and told her to phone any time she was having arthritic difficulties. He also told her if she went to a the hospital to instruct the doctor to phone him.
It was such a relief to my husband and I as our daughter had severe arthritis and had at one time been in a wheelchair for a year. We knew she now had a contact should she have health problems re Arthritis. Our daughter didn’t have to phone him but it was security for her to know he was there if she had a flair up and needed his help. Dr. McKendry probably didn’t think twice about it but it meant a lot to us.
May he Rest In Peace . Remember the good times you shared with him. Memories are treasured that will help you in your grief journey.
