Mr Burnside had a larger than life presence to me, especially growing up in Manotick. I enjoyed the few times I was in his company and always laugh when he made us all keep our jackets on at Janet’s wedding, with diminishing success as the night went on!
My best to Gillian, Janet and Doug. I’m sorry for your loss but happy your dad had such a long, successful and happy life.

We were so privileged to work with your family on ground-breaking dementia research, which was only possible with your support. Please accept our best wishes at this time.

Mr & Mrs Burnside were good friends of my mom and dad (Joyce and Idwal Richards). My husband (Ron) and I were welcomed by them in Florida (we were traveling with my dad) a few times and I attended a number of events with my dad that they were at. I remember Mr Burnside's laugh (smiling now as I think of it) and how he always took the time to share a few jokes. I also remember the stories my dad told of the "gang" on the golf course or at Bungalow Island and how much fun they had together.
I know he will be missed by his family and friends but I also know that there the "gang" will be welcoming and I'm sure they've scheduled a golf game for next week.

I would like to extend my condolences to the Burnside Family , in reading about him, i also knew, that he was a person of great character and professionalism, and that he brought together, a great life with family, friends and business associates. He was always a person that i could call on for advise , even after he was retired.
May the family live by his standards and know that there are many of us who admired him for his work ethics, and his legacy.
GOD BLESS YOU BILL for all that you have accomplished and left behind may you rest in peace.

Mr. Burnside was a close friend of my late parents, Adrian (Bud) and Patricia (Patsy) Hewitt and my uncle, Paul Hewitt. I was fortunate to have known Mr. Burnside for most of my life and would see him frequently at the Royal Ottawa or at our home on many social occasions. He was always kind and had a glint in his eye. And he was just tough enough to keep us in line if needed. By chance my Mother died on January 4th and I had intended to let Mr. Burnside know. I had the opportunity to work with Mr. Burnside in my capacity at the Bruyere Health Foundation in recent years and enjoyed the chance to reconnect. He was a wonderful person and a great family man which I admired.
My condolences to the family...
