Obituary of Leonard Bernier
It is with loving hearts we say goodbye to our father Leonard Adelard Bernier after a long battle with a lung desease. He peacefully passed away in the morning on December 26th at the age of 90. Len was a dedicated father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at the annual "Bernfest". He was a talented artist and writer who also enjoyed carpentry, wood carving, story telling and drawing cartoons for his children and grandchildren. He loved music, especially when played by his brother Rolly. He will be missed by many family and friends.
Born May 10, 1934, and raised in Sudbury, to Louise and Fred Bernier, he later joined the Royal Canadian Airforce as an aircraft radar technician. After retiring from the Airforce, he worked at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as a Video Technician.
He is survived by his children David (Margaret), Janet (David), Rachel (Scott) and Elva; grandchildren, Melissa, Todd, Sarah, Erica Cameron, David and Angel; great grandchildren, Evan, Eloise, Felix, Jasper, Jack, Coen, Quin and Emrys; sister Claudette and brother Rolly (Linda). He was predeceased by his parents as well as his brother Gerry.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa Ontario. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (CPFF).
