Obituary of Marion Sandra Milnes
Marion Sandra Milnes, daughter of Jack Chalmers and Maud Francis, has gone home to the Lord that she loved, on Monday, December 2, 2024, after a long struggle with heart disease. She died peacefully at home under the care of her son David.
She has left behind her husband Fred of 65 years, their children Robert, David, Kathy (Dave Stoesz), and daughter-in-law Sherry, their grandchildren Josiah, Rebekah, Jacob, Hannah (Tim Elgersma), and Rachel, and their great granddaughter Elizabeth.
Marion and Fred’s first-born child John, along with other family and friends, has been waiting for her in heaven where they are now re-united.
Along with her loving care for her children, Marion served alongside her husband Fred within the various churches they were called to. After her children had grown up, she served as a lay pastoral minister in a number of United Churches: Myrtle, Claremont and Courtice. Marion and Fred then had the pleasure of working in a team ministry at the South Mountain / Halville charge. She was a gifted soloist and shared her gift of music in every church she was a part of.
As a recognized lay pastoral minister, she teamed up with her good friend Olga McKellar to share leadership in the Lay Pastoral Ministry Leadership Training at St Paul’s University in Montreal.
The family want to express their appreciation for the care she has received from the medical team in Ottawa, particularly Dr. Douglas and the palliative care team.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at Glencairn United Church, 140 Abbeyhill Dr., Kanata
On Sunday, December 8th, 2024. Visitation will begin at 1pm and the Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm. A reception will follow. For those unable to attend the service will be livestreamed. Please follow this Service Link.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice on Marion’s behalf would be appreciated.
