Obituary of Clifford John Reddick

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Clifford John Reddick, November 15, 2024 at the age of 94, survived by his loving wife Ruth (née Anderson) of 73 years. Cherished father of Don (Cheryl), Ken (Mary-Ann) and Karen (Gerald). He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Julie, Jenn, Jason, Scott, Amanda, and Nick. He is Great Grandfather to Carter, Dana, Rylee and Julia.

Cliff grew up on the family farm in Riverfield, Quebec, son of Hiram and Elizabeth (née McGregor), with his brothers Ralph and Burton, and sisters Lena (Bustard), Doris (McCartney), Erma (Perrault), and Audrey (Cluff).

Cliff’s career spanned 43 years with Bell Canada. From humble beginnings at 17 as a repairman climbing telephone poles in Ormstown, Quebec, taking on increasing responsibility culminating in a move to Ottawa on special assignment to the Executive VP, where Cliff became the Project Manager for the planning and implementation of the new Place Bell Canada building.  After that his other roles enabled he and Ruth to travel to a variety of countries and experience many other cultures.

In his youth Cliff enjoyed playing softball and hockey and later golf, but his real passion was curling. His curling career spanned six decades, participating in many competitive bonspiels too numerous to count while setting a record for the most consecutive appearances in the City of Ottawa Bonspiel. Cliff was a longstanding active member of the Governor General’s Curling Club and President of the Granite Curling Club of West Ottawa. He donated many volunteer hours to enrich other’s lives. He was responsible for communications at two Briers.

The social side of curling was a joy for both Cliff and Ruth, making life-long friends, enjoying many a party and creating wonderful memories.

Retirement brought he and Ruth more opportunities for travel and more time at their beautiful cottage on Black Lake where family gatherings were especially memorable, fun filled times together.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the caring staff at Bridlewood Trails Retirement Community and the Queensway-Carleton Hospital.

A Celebration of Cliff’s Life will take place in Ottawa with close family next summer.
