Obituary of Edith Evans Seveny

Edith Evans Seveny, 83, passed away on September 28, 2024. Born in Herkimer, NY to Arch H. and Mary Scott Evans, Edie was an elementary teacher and school librarian for 33 years. Edie worked in Copenhagen, Carthage and Watertown, NY, as well as, Palm Beach County, FL.

Edie attended North School (Herkimer) and graduated Bethlehem Central H.S. (Delmar, NY) in 1959. She earned a BS in education from SUNY New Paltz and then a Masters in Library Science from SUNY Albany. Her lifelong love of Broadway Theater and American History saw her join many little theater groups along with the Herkimer (NY) County Historical Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of Unity Church of Delray Beach, FL, The Order of Eastern Star and The Florida REA.

Edie was predeceased by her husband, Lionel (Neil) Seveny (Ottawa, ON) and her stepson, Dennis. She is survived by her step children, Gary M. Seveny (Louise), Kim A. Seveny (Denise), Tammy Simpson (Frank) and step daughter-in-law, Susan Boutilier and families. Also survived by her first cousins, James S. Duncan (Kathleen), Robert A. Duncan (Jean) and Keith D. Duncan (Rhonda) and their families.
