Obituary of Rebecca Veale

On Monday, September 30, 2024, in her 80th year, Rebecca passed away peacefully at home and went to be with her Lord. She dedicated her life to loving God with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. Rebecca was devoted to her church and community, serving in many capacities. Before marriage, she graduated from teacher's college and taught elementary school until she became a devoted mother. With a theology degree, she later led worship in seniors' homes and served as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent, lay reader, and chorister. She also enjoyed watching golf and faith-based television. 

Rebecca lovingly tolerated her husband Brian for 53 years of marriage and was a cherished mother to Donna (Scott), Ken, Dorothy (Ben), and William (Amy). She was a proud grandmother to Keith, Makayla, Sabrina, Kayla, Xander, Marcus, Alissa, Hayley, Alice and Henry, as well as a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. 
She is survived by her brothers William (Faith) and Emmett (Evelyn), and her sister Nina (John). She now reunites with her late sisters, Bertha (Mac Davidson) and Meron (Milton Ferguson), and her parents William and Nina (née Cole) Stephens. 

A celebration of Rebecca's life will be held at St. Stephen's Anglican Church on Watson Street, Ottawa. on Friday, October 11, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow, with interment at Pinecrest Cemetery.
