Ann Carter

Obituary of Ann Ellen Carter

Ann Ellen Carter (nee Ayres) passed peacefully on September 20, 2024 after a three month stay at Saint Vincents Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario Canada.

Ann was predeceased by her parents Grace (1959) and Bertie (1962) and her husband Peter Stanley Carter (2007). She is survived by her two daughters Sue and Mary who will miss her immeasurably.

Born in High Wycombe, England she moved to Canada with her husband and two daughters in March of 1973.

Ann lived her life with caring and the desire to help others. She worked mostly in retail with a long career at The Bay at Bayshore where she made some wonderful friends who kept getting together for monthly lunches long after their retirement until COVID put an end to that.

Ann loved to potter about in her garden and plant flowers of all kinds.

She enjoyed sitting with a cup of tea and taking them all in while listening to the birds enjoy her offerings of seeds and baths.

Later in life Ann discovered her love and talent for painting. Many friends and family have original artwork of hers hanging in their homes. Ann also had a talent for knitting and could be found every Christmas season in a local school and retirement home selling her toys.  She was well-known for her mice and was proud to have had her photo in the local paper once or twice calling her the "Mouse Lady".

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society are welcome.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Saint Vincents Four North for their compassionate care during her last few months.

The service will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Cole Funeral Services and Pinecrest Remembrance, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa.
