Obituary of Peter Hilliard McGrath

Peter Hilliard McGrath, at 88 years of age, born and raised in Sarnia ON, passed away on September 16, 2024 in Ottawa ON, where he resided for the last 57 years.

Peter was born in Sarnia in 1935, the son of Francis McGrath and Vera (née Marsh) and big brother to Jeanette McGrath of Windsor. Peter was primarily a family man, much adored by his wife Mary (née Punchard) of Chatham ON and his three daughters Kelly (Mike), Leslie and Tracey (Michael). He will also be missed by his grandchildren Colin (Clélie) and Susan (Ben).

Peter studied Geology and Geophysics at University of Winnipeg and Western University where he met the love of his life, Mary. After graduation, Peter's work took them to locations across the country. In 1967, they settled in Ottawa with their three daughters where Peter worked at the Geological Survey of Canada until his retirement.
