Obituary of Ernest Foster

May 13, 1951 - Aug 29, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernie Foster on August 29, 2024.

Predeceased by his twin brother Herb (Laurie) he is survived by his wife Trudy, children Kristen (Ed), Steven, and Kelly (David), and grandchildren (Logan and Emily).

He also leaves behind his brother Chris (Kathy) and brothers-in-law Richard (Carolle), Fred (Cri) and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Born in Montreal, Ernie was introduced to computers when the industry was in its infancy in the early seventies and had a very successful career in high tech which led him from Montreal to Mississauga, Dunnville, and finally to Ottawa (Kanata) where he later retired.

As a young man Ernie had a passion for sports, especially soccer, which was later replaced by his grand passion for the game of golf. Ernie also enjoyed music, playing the guitar, and spending summers camping with the family in their well-used tent trailer.

A special thanks to Dr. Jennings for her compassion and excellent care of Ernie during his final months, and the wonderful supportive staff and volunteers at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Kanata. If anyone desires, a donation to Hospice Care Ottawa would be appreciated.

A service celebrating Ernie's life will be held on September 19th at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 20 Young Road, Kanata.

Visitation begins at 10:30 am, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 am. We warmly welcome everyone to a reception at the church following the service.
