Obituary of Thu Ha Tran

Thu Ha Tran, age 59, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the General Campus of Ottawa Hospital. She was born on the 23rd of September, 1964, in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam.  She is the eldest child of Du Tran and Hoa Ngo.

After graduating from UQAM, she went on to achieve her Chartered Professional Accountants designation in 1999.  Thu Ha had a very successful career that spanned over three plus decades in Montreal and Ottawa.  She worked in a number of private enterprises and public institutions.  For the past 19 years, she worked at the University of Ottawa in financial services at the Student Services, Faculty of Health Sciences, and Faculty of Engineering.

In her free time, she loved to travel to new places and try foods from different cultures. She always enjoyed meeting new people and speaking about different life experiences. It was these enriching conversations and experiences which gave her a deep understanding of different personalities and helped her connect to the people she met everyday. In 1987, she met Chi Ming Kwan and they were married on the 9th of September, 1989 in Montreal,.They went on to have two amazing sons, Philip and Alex Kwan.

A private funeral service in memory of Thu Ha Tran will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, with family.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Canadian Cancer Society an organization Thu Ha felt strongly about.
