Don passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Thursday, July 25th, 2024 at The Ottawa Hospital (General). Born in Ottawa at the Civic hospital in 1944, Don was son of the late Arthur Morell Ford and Phyllis Irene (Coombes). Beloved husband and best friend of Margo (McKnight) for 55 years. Encouraging and inspiring father of Lesley (Doug Woods), Elizabeth Stevens (Andrew), and Matthew (Lana Butler). Adventurous Grandpa of Gavin, Elyse, Meredith, Kate, Will, Ben, Rylan and Carys and Bonus-Grandpa of Georgia and Luella. Dear brother of Clare (Chris) and brother-in-law to Kathi (McKnight) and Norman Jackson.

Don graduated from Carleton University in 1969 (M.Sc. Chemistry), and from Western University in 1971 (MBA).

After some time with the Federal Government, Don worked the remainder of his career as a financial consultant in Telecommunications. (D.A. Ford & Associates)

Don, Dad, Grandpa, builder, cottager (Lac Heney), skier and golfer (Mont. Ste-Marie), canoeist, outdoor enthusiast, Queen Scout, F1 fan, rally car navigator, business owner, investor, marathon runner, author, voracious reader, critical thinker, problem-solver, member of Emmanuel United Church, but above all... gracious and open-minded, respectful and kind to everyone who crossed his path. He was grateful for even the small things. Whatever the situation, and however he could, Don supported those around him.
