Obituary of Bartholomeus Belonje

Bartholomeus (Bart) Belonje passed away peacefully on May 12^th at the age of 76 surrounded by those he loved. Cherished husband of 52 years to Suzanne, loving father of Joanne (Scott) and Emily (Ryan), and proud grandfather of Veronika and Evelina.

Bart was born on August 11, 1947 in Gouda Netherlands and immigrated to Ottawa Canada at age 8.  He graduated from the Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology and went on to work 35 years at Health Canada.  He took great pride in his work and enjoyed and appreciated the relationships he built there.

Bart valued integrity, hard work and was devoted to his family.  He enjoyed listening to music, watching soccer and reading. He had a curious mind and was always eager to learn something new and have thought-provoking conversations with family and friends.

The family is extremely grateful to St. Patrick's Home and the Ottawa General Hospital for their care and compassion.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday May 17, 2024 at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Ottawa Heart Institute or Parkinson Canada in his honor.
