Obituary of Irina Tumilovich (née Banshikova)

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Irina Tumilovich, of Manotick Station, who passed away on February 11, 2024, at the age of 65. Irina was born on April 24, 1958, in Byisk, USSR, to Joserk Banshikova from Kazakhstan, USSR, and Klavdiya Tananyhina from Byisk, USSR.

A devoted mother, beloved wife, cherished daughter, and caring sister.  Irina's journey brought her from her birthplace in the USSR to Newfoundland in 1995, alongside with her son, Alexei Tumilovich. Embracing a new chapter, Irina moved to Ottawa in 1999, where she was a pharmacist technician and a valued member of the Medical Arts team until her recent retirement.

Irina met the love of her life, Larry Stanish, in 1999 and together they built a life enriched by love, laughter, and shared adventures. She is survived by her husband, Larry; her son, Alexei; her sister, Olga and her husband Gregory Yacovlev; her stepchildren, Francis O'Keefe and his wife Marrisa Paron, and their daughter, Saffryn O'Keefe. Including Virginia O'Keefe and her partner Dave, Erica Stanish and her partner Dimitri, and Sadie Stanish and her husband Jad; And all of her in-law’s on Larry Stanish’s side of the family including her mother-in-law Frances Boulanger who truly adored her.

Known for her warm spirit and kindness, Irina was exceedingly family-oriented. She deeply loved her son Alexei, her extended family, and was an extraordinary BaBa to her step-granddaughter Saffryn. Her passions included gardening and cooking, and she cherished the moments spent with her friends. Irina and her husband Larry shared a love for travel, exploring new places together and creating treasured memories.

The void left by Irina's departure is immeasurable, but she will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and the joy she brought to others.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to those who provided care and support during her final days. Irina's legacy of love, dedication, and the simple pleasures she enjoyed will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Irina will be profoundly missed but will remain forever in our hearts.
