Obituary of Karen Gray

Karen Elizabeth (Dowdall-McCaul) Gray

February 13, 1943- January 6, 2024

Soared away peacefully with the angels, surrounded by her family at the Queensway Carleton Hospital after lengthy illness on January 6, 2024.

Predeceased by her loving parents Milton and Lillian (Dowdall) McCaul and survived by her only sibling, a brother, John.

Karen leaves behind her most cherished furbaby, B2, her loving children Heather (Ken), Dana, Darryl (Jane), Leanne and Shawn, her cherished prides and joy, her 14 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the QCH Emergency Dept., the ACE Unit, Dr. Morrin and the Palliative team for their kind and compassionate care of our Mom/ Nana.

The family would also like to sincerely thank Jessica and Willis at Harmer House for their loving care of Mom for the past 14 years.

Cremation has taken place by the Pinecrest Remembrance Services. As per Karen's explicit request, there will not be visitation or burial.

A celebration of Karen's life will be held at her residence, to allow her closest friends to attend, the Harmer House visitation room at 848 Seyton Dr. in Ottawa on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. This celebration is an open invitation to all who wish to attend.

In honour of Karen, memorial contributions can be made to a local animal shelter or a charity of your choice.
