Obituary of Leena Shah
It is with tender hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother and wife Leena (Leena Naren Shah). She passed away peacefully with her loving husband Naren and daughter Roma by her side, Leena left her physical form on December 10th at the age of 72 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
Predeceased by her mother Pushpabehn Majmudar, father Pravinchandra Majmudar and brother Kulin Majmudar. She is survived by Narendra, her husband of 47 years, her daughter Roma, son-in-law Dhruv, brothers Zankar (Rekha), Nayan (Nilam) and brother-in-law Yogesh (Trupti); along with all other brothers-in laws, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
Leena was born on November 23rd, 1951 in Kadi, Gujarat, India at her maternal grandmother's home; the first child to her parents, and the first grandchild born in the Jambudi family. Leena was bright and independent from an early age. She excelled at school and completed a BA in Commerce from Nav Gujarat College in Ahmedabad.
In 1977, she married her husband Naren and immigrated to Ottawa, Canada. She lived a fulfilling, vibrant and fruitful life. Leena was an artist, she brought joy to others with her singing. She knew the words to many hindi songs and ghazals, and woke up every day with a different song in her heart.
Leena sang while doing everything - it was how she lived her life, surrounded by music and doing something she loved. This made her family’s days brighter - and is what they will remember. The light and positivity she brought to her family, her home and her community.
Leena was the epitome of strength and bravery. She taught us to be grateful for what we have, and be present in everything that we were doing. Despite all her health issues, she remained resilient. She always found a way to be content and happy. We are forever grateful for Leena’s fiery spirit and beauty, and the indelible impact she had on her family and friends. She was so deeply loved and will continue to be loved, as her spirit lives on through her family.
For Leena, an excerpt from her favourite song Nani Pari which she sang to her daughter until her final day.
नन्ही कली सोने चली (nanhi pari sone chali)
...Little angel drifting to sleep...
हवा धीरे आना (hawa dheere aana)
...May the wind blow gently her way...
नींद भरे पंख लिये (neend bhare, pankh liye)
...In your sleep-laden wings...
झूला झूला जाना (jhoolaa jhula jaana)
...rock back and forth in your cradle…
We sincerely appreciate all your prayers.
