Bud & Tucker’s Legacy Caroline Ann Patricia Miller (a.k.a. Tucker) was born to Jane Louise Ward and John William Miller on October 22nd, 1934 in Halifax NS. Predeceased by sisters Ruth (Ken), Jane (Vance surviving), and brother Jackie (Edna). Sister-in-law to Marnie and Jack (both predeceased) and Carole (Peter). Aunt to Susan, Janis, Julie (Bob), Sandra (predeceased), Chris (Joanna), Michelle (David). Tommy Tucker (nickname from her Mom) grew up in Halifax where her Mom and Dad operated The Canary Snack bar'in the North End of Halifax. Tucker didn't mind helping out, especially when there was a fast-ball game being played in the park across the street. She took notice of the home team's short-stop. She found out that his name was Buddy Neate. After a game, Buddy would grab a pop and chips at the snack bar before heading home. They'd smile at each other and hold eye contact just a titch longer than necessary. They eventually started dating… Charles Joseph Thomas Neate ~ Buddy ~ was born in Halifax, N.S. on June 14th, 1930. He was the first born and only son of Marie Agnes Clancey and Charles Vincent Neate. His sister Marnie was born in 1935 followed by Carole who was born 10 years later. Bud and Tucker were wed on May 29th, 1954. Their daughter Linda was born in Aug of 1955. Bud was working at the NFB where he took an interest in working with film which led him to being hired on at CBC Halifax. Dad and Mom moved to Ottawa in 1960 where Bud continued his career with CBC which spanned 30 years. Their son David came along in Dec of 1960. They decided to moved west of Ottawa in ‘68 to a suburb called Glen Cairn. They had an instantaneous connection with their new neighbours Bob and Dolores Wood, which lasted forever. They enjoyed pot luck dinners, backyard BBQ’s, and Christmas get togethers over the years with all their new neighbours. Bud and Tucker would drive back annually to Halifax, stay with Janie and Vance (the brother that Bud never had) and visiting with other family members. After the kids had grown Tucker was able to join Bud in his daily drives into CBC as she joined the Northern Services dept in the early ’70’s. Dad and Mom retired from their jobs at CBC and decided to downsize to a condo in Perth after 22 years in Glen Cairn. The plan was that they'd winter in Florida and spend the other six months in a retirement community similar to what they enjoyed in Florida. They were one of the original owners in the Perthshire community. Bud would be the local, “you need a hand with that? I’ll be right there”. It didn’t take long to find golfing buddies and off they’d go for a daily round. That gave Tucker a chance to enjoy her crafting. Shopping was her favourite hobby. Never a week passed that they wouldn’t drive off to Brockville,Kingston or Watertown looking for those bargains. They both spent countless hours in the sunroom where Bud enjoyed working on his cross-stitch. In 2005, Dad had a mild heart attack on the golf course, which led to triple bypass surgery. He was still able to go about his day, just at a lesser pace. As time progressed Dad’s health diminished due to coronary artery disease. He passed away in Perth on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, as a result of a heart attack. Tucker began showing signs of dementia prior to Bud’s death which eventually took its toll on her. Tucker sold their condo of 30 years in Perthshire in 2021. She was the last of the original owners. The decision was made to move back to Kanata to be closer to family and she chose to move into a retirement residence. Mom passed away on Tuesday November 14, 2023 exactly 4 1/2 years after the passing of the love of her life, her Buddy. They were destined to be together “always and forever” which they are now. They were amazingly alike. A perfect match. Their’s was a true love story for over 65 years. We will never ever forget our Dad and Mom, Nanny and Poppa, and neither will their extended family and friends who knew them as Bud and Tucker… they gave all of us so much to remember. Always Loved…..Never Forgotten….Forever Missed

Dear Linda, David and families. We were so sorry to read of your Mom’s passing. We shared so many years of friendship through CBC, Glencairn and New Smyrna Beach with your Mom and Dad. May they rest in peace together, and may your memories be a blessing.
