My deep sympathy goes to Betsy’s family, especially her beloved daughter. Betsy was the best colleague who brought joy to her work and who inspired happiness in her fellow employees. How can you describe her positive life force – the way she could make you smile even if you only saw her name on an email distribution list? “Ah,” you would say, “there’s my dear friend Betsy out there!” and feel good the rest of the day. Dear Nick, Fay, Niki, and members of Betsy’s family - Her “JGH family” thought of Betsy often since her transfer to Ottawa and it is comforting to know she was close to her family when she passed. I was stunned and saddened to hear of Betsy’s passing. Betsy was a very dear friend. I will never forget the fun I had with her when we worked together on Condoleezza Rice’s travel team. We spent many hours together both at and outside of work. Her humor and joie de vivre made that time extraordinary for me and everyone around her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her entire family, whom she always spoke of with such love. My heart aches for her precious young daughter, who I know was the sunshine of her life.

I first met Betsy on my very first trip to Greece. I was 25 and had never been overseas by myself before. When Betsy met me in Athens, she instantly looked after me. I will forever cherish that time cousin, I can't believe you are gone. Thank you for everything. To Niki and the entire family, I'm so very sorry. I'm thinking of you all.
