Obituary of Thomas LeFrancois

Thomas (Al) Le Francois went into the outstretched arms of Jesus on September 26, 2023. He was predeceased by his dear wife, Norma, who passed away in 2016. He was the loving father of Cia (Bill), Tim (Vicki) and Amy. He leaves seven cherished grandchildren: Anastasia, Corben, Hamish, Richard , Haley , Hayden and Indigo . He also leaves many beloved nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. He was predeceased by his parents Zotique and Clotilde, six brothers, among them was his much loved twin, Andrew and five sisters.

Prior to coming to Ottawa, Al was ten years in the automobile business with a brother-in-law; a business that had been started years before by his father-in-law. When he moved to Kanata in 1970 , he joined the CRA , and retired twenty – seven years later. In his younger years, Al was a Kinsman Club member, and once moving to Ottawa he attended the Men`s Canadian Club. He was also an active member of the Probus Club of Ottawa- Rideau Valley for many years. He enjoyed his twelve years singing with the Osgoode Township Male Choir. His hobbies included curling at Metcalfe, swimming, spending time with family and friends, and riding his bike.

Al became quite active within the Baptist Churches of Ontario and Quebec. He was the treasurer of the Ottawa Baptist Association for a number of years, as well as a member of the men`s group of the Baptist Convention. Since the family move to Ottawa actually found him settling in Kanata, Al took much pride in being one of the chartered members of Kanata Baptist Church. Throughout his Church life, Al has occupied the position of deacon, Sunday school teacher, treasurer, and envelope secretary.

In March of 2023, Al moved into Wildpine Retirement Residence in Stittsville Ontario. During his time there, Al was made to feel welcome, supported, safe and also had the opportunity to make several new friends. The Family would like to express a very sincere thank you to the exceptionally kind, skilled, and attentive staff who helped care for Al during his time living there. Although there are far too many to name individually, we acknowledge the unsurpassed level of professionalism, compassion, and attention of every staff member who made Al’s final year so meaningful and pleasant. Al will be missed by his many friends.

A Celebration of Al’s life will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 28 th at Bethany Baptist Church in Nepean, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the, Bethany Baptist Church, University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario,
