Obituary of Natalie Hobbs
Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Predeceased by her husband, Borden B. Hobbs (1982); and eldest son, David L. B. Hobbs (2019). Survived by her son, Wayne; daughter, Karen and son-in-law Gordon (Thomson). Special “Nonna” to her adoring grandchildren Christopher and Mallory Hobbs, and Alexander and Alayna Thomson. Lee was the eldest of eleven children and born in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, in 1931 to Gino & Delia Modesto.
She met her husband while working as a telephone operator and they married in 1950 and started their life together in Ottawa. Lee worked for decades as head cashier for Robinson ‘IGA’ on Merivale Road, and ‘Independent’ grocery store in Manotick where Lee finally retired in her early 80’s. Lee was respected by many and loved by all. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she always put family first. She was very social and volunteered over the years - namely Westboro Kiwanis and Miller’s Oven in Manotick.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Peter D. Clarke who cared for mom with kindness, respect & dignity. Also, forever grateful to Sue Muldoon, a special family friend, who provided daily companionship to Lee over the past years.
