Obituary of Donald Strong

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Donald William Kenneth Strong, (70), of Ottawa, Ontario, who passed away unexpectedly on July 9th, 2023, surrounded by his family.  

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Catherine; children: Amy-Lea (Nicholas), Joshua (Cara), Kyle (Katriena) and all 8 of his grandchildren; Charlie, Harper, Daniel, Gracen, Norah, Arthur, Asher, and Kyle; sister Genny; brother Chris ; niece Felicia as well as countless other relatives and friends. He will also be deeply missed by all the lives he touched throughout his career.

Don shared his passion for sailing, cooking and travelling with Cathy and his many friends, children and grandchildren whenever he got the chance. Don's remarkable career unveiled the profound depths of empathy, unwavering focus, and boundless compassion that epitomize the essence of genuine leadership.  Although Don's departure from our midst came far too soon, his impact on the lives he touched will resonate for years to come. His legacy will endure, an everlasting testament to the love, kindness, and inspiration he brought into our lives. 

A memorial service honouring the life of Don will be held on Saturday, July 15th, at the Highland Park Cemetery, situated at 2037 Mcgee Side Road, Carp, ON K0A 1L0.  

A visitation period will be held between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm.  Following the visitation, a celebration of life will be held between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm.  After the ceremony, a reception will follow, allowing attendees to connect, share stories, and extend their condolences. It will be a time of reflection and unity as we remember and celebrate Don's life.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Ottawa Heart Institute in Donald Strong’s name.
