Dear Gamble Family,
I was privileged to join you today for the service for Hugh. I was a consultant many years ago to Hugh and the Emergency Preparedness College bringing training on the role of the media in emergencies. The contribution of my team and me was during the significant multi-sector simulations. These sessions were so important on many fronts. What I valued about Hugh as the head of the College was his warm and generous spirit - even as he was holding his staff and all participants to the highest standard of training. He was particularly kind to me and I always valued his input.
I knew of the sudden and tragic passing of his beloved wife and know that this remained an emotional burden.
In hearing the charming, amusing and loving experiences from his children and grandchildren today, I am happy to add that he was an incredible professional: wise, caring and open in his work about which he cared deeply.
