Obituary of Emilie Lauren Deschamps
It is with deepest sorrow that we mourn the passing of our precious daughter Emilie Lauren Deschamps, who passed away June 26, 2023, at the age of 23.
Em will be lovingly remembered by her dad, Claude Deschamps, and his partner Frances Charbonneau; her mom, Sarah Arscott-Jones, and her husband Jordan Jones; her cherished brother, Collin Deschamps; her siblings, Hailey and Samantha Jones; her grandparents Aline and Rolland Deschamps; and her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Em’s greatest passion in life was horseback riding, which she enjoyed for over a decade. As a child, Em did not play with Barbies like most other young girls; instead, she played with My Little Pony and arranged toy horses in her barn. This is emblematic of her love for animals of all shapes and sizes. Joey and Chappie, her beloved cats, were her greatest joy; a conversation could not be had without Em telling stories or showing videos of her “boys”.
Emilie’s life was shaped by her incredible talent for all things creative. Her drawings and acrylic paintings are reflective of her ability to create beauty with anything she touched.
Music was a large part of her life. She understood a wide range of genres, and enjoyed being in-tune with the deeper meaning behind the music itself.
Em’s presence could not be ignored on the soccer field. She kicked the ball up the field towards the goal so often that it earned her the nickname “Freight Train” Deschamps.
Emilie had a big heart. She will be remembered by her amazing sense of humour and fun outlook on life. In particular, the love she exuded towards her friends and family, and especially her big brother, Collin, will remain as fond memories. Her remarkable talents, passions, and approaches to life touched and brightened the lives of all who knew her.
Em was a courageous warrior who bravely fought a lengthy battle with mental health and addiction. To honour her memory and strength, donations can be made to the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre or Trillium Gift of Life Network. A celebration of her life will be held July 8, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Highland Park Cemetery, located at 2037 McGee Side Rd, Carp, Ontario. In remembrance of her love of nature, the ceremony will be held outdoors, if weather permits.
