Obituary of Coralie Clare McTaggart

Coralie Clare (Stanton) McTaggart, 83, passed away peacefully the evening of Friday June 9, 2023, at the Villagia in the Glebe Retirement Home in Ottawa, Ontario. Corky was predeceased by her husband Robert Paul McTaggart, her sister Elaine Joyce and her parents. She is survived by her three children: Robin (Val), Shannon (Debra) and Gavin (Terri), her five grandchildren Katie, Michael, Ryan, Connor, Emily; and her sister Jane (Stanton) Crittenden.

Corky was born on May 26, 1940, in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan to Jack and Cora (King) Stanton. She grew up in Colorado Springs (USA) with her parents and two sisters Jane and Elaine. Corky was force to be reckoned with; a free spirit. Loving the freedom her little Morris Minor (car) gave her, while still only in her teens she left Colorado heading north on the open road in search of what life had instore for her. Her initial journey lead her to her aunts farm in Markham, Ontario, where she lived for sometime until she met her future husband and love of her life, Paul—while they both worked for the British American Oil Company in Toronto. Not long after she and Paul married, they chose Ottawa for their ultimate place to call home. In addition to raising her three boys, Corky had multiple careers and interests. She ran a small construction company, was a successful Realtor, loved to travel the world and was a bit of a renovation addict, loving nothing better than the realization of an idea that started out as a sketch on her graph paper.

She will be missed by her family and the multitude of friends she made throughout her life.

The McTaggart family would like to express their gratitude to the staff (PSW’s, nurses, admin) at the Villagia in the Glebe Retirement Home—who regularly went above and beyond—ensuring both her comfort and ours leading up to her passing. We would also like to acknowledge the help of the PSW’s and nurses provided by the LHIN as well as the LHIN staff.
