Obituary of Giuseppe Di Rienzo
It is with great sadness that the Di Rienzo Family announces the passing of Giuseppe Di Rienzo on May 10, 2023, at the age of 83. Survived by his wife Maria (nee D’Angelo), children Filomena (Dave), Patsy, Sandra (Rick) and Gerry. Adored Nonno to Matthew (Kaitlyn), Christopher (Katie), Samantha, Mikaela (Chris), and Nicholas. Bisnonno to one great grandchild Ryker.
Giuseppe was born on October 5, 1939, in Montelapiano, Chieti, Italy to Gennaro Di Rienzo and Filomena Piccoli. He is survived by his brother Tony (Dorothy), and sister Ginetta (late Domenico). He is predeceased by his brothers Michele (late Yola), Domenico, Antonio and sister Giaginta. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildren in Ottawa and elsewhere.
Shortly after arriving here in Ottawa to be reunited with his wife-to-be to begin their lives together, he began a career as a chef. First working at the Villa Capri where he was the head chef for 21 years and then working alongside his brother Domenico at Trattoria Toscana. He will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road. Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel. Interment Pinecrest Cemetery.
