Obituary of Robert Sargent
Robert Ashley Sargent, 50, of Ottawa Ontario, passed away April 21, 2023 in hospital surrounded by family after a long battle with COPD.
Rob, Robbie as he was known to family, was a kind and thoughtful father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. Robbie had a heart of gold, a great and sarcastic sense of humour and a laugh that would put a smile on your face. Robbie, everyone you left in this world hates that you are gone but we are happy that you are now home free and painless. We will always love and miss you until we can meet again.
Robbie was born in Toronto Ontario on May 16, 1972 and was adopted at 1 year of age. The family moved to Ottawa in 1975 where he attended Knoxdale and Greenbank public schools and later Sir Guy Carleton. His childhood years were spent patrolling the streets and parks of Trend Village with his brother and his many neighbourhood friends. Street hockey, kick the can, exploring the pit and creek and riding bikes were among his favourite things to do as a child. Robbie loved to fish and he would do so often as a child with his grandfather, father and brother. Robbie's childhood summers were filled with laughter, exploration, fishing and swimming with mom, dad, brother, cousins and friends at the campsite. Robbie LOVED music especially Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne and believe it or not in his early years Michael Jackson. Robbie loved Sylvester Stalone and was especially fond of the Rocky and First Blood movies. Robbie was not afraid of hard work and was very good with his hands and often worked with them in landscaping. Robbie loved and cherished his family especially his three children who were his pride, joy and life. Robbie was perhaps THE biggest Leafs fan. He so dearly wanted to see 'his' Leafs win the Cup and we pray that he will get to do so soon from the blissful clouds above.
Robbie is survived by his Daughter Christine, Son James, Daughter Claudia, Mother Susan, Father James (Liz), Brother Sean, Mother Beth, Brother James, Sister Natalie, Grandson Jayden, Granddaughter Abigail, Aunt Frances (Barry), Uncle John, Aunt Helen, Aunt Norma, Aunt Harriett, Niece Liberty and many cousins and other assorted family and many caring friends.
Robbie is preceded in death by sister Alia, Grandfather Norman, Grandmother Madelyn, Grandmother Dorothy, Grandfather Frank, Grandmother Kathleen, Uncle Michael, Aunt Kathleen (Bill), Aunt Mary.
In lieu of a traditional memorial service, Robbie has requested a celebration of life which will take place May 13, 2023 from 2-4pm at the Trend-Arlington Community Centre 50 Bellman Dr, Nepean.
