Dearest Lise...it saddened me a lot to hear of the passing away of dear Serge, your beloved husband.
My deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to you and Ari.
Harry sent me the link to view the funeral. I just watched it right now and it was very touching especially your words, Ari's and Raouf's. I had tears when I got to know how much he suffered from his pains throughout his life.
Now Serge returned to his creator and is free from pain and sufferance. The loss and separation is difficult but you are comforted knowing that he is no longer suffering.
God comfort and strengthen you as you grieve him but his memory will live forever.
PS. I lit a candle for him yesterday in the Basilique and offered the mass in his intention. Gladys

Grief is not about forgetting, but about remembering. It's the remembering that gives you the strength to keep going. As you grieve your wonderful husband and father, please know that all of us are mourning along with you and that you are in our hearts, our thoughts, and our prayers. Love, Priscilla and Dan

In 1957 I joined the school that Serge was in. Soon, I realised that we lived about 100 metres apart. We became like brothers and spent many happy hours together.
The rest is history and Serge kept a fantastic record with photos, videos and letters amassed over 66 years.
Five of us from school formed a very close friendship and called ourselves The Martians. Serge was the link that joined us together after we each went our own way. Firstly, through letters, then emails and, more recently, via a weekly ZOOM meetings.
I will miss Serge deeply. He is now safe in God’s Hands and always in our hearts.
Sincere condolences to wonderful Lise and great son, Ari.

While words don’t necessarily ease the grief of losing someone, they can be a reminder that you aren’t alone and those closest to you share in the weight of your sorrow.
