Obituary of Joan Frances Collins

After a three year battle with dementia, Joan passed away peacefully at the Chapel Hill Retirement Residence on May 17, 2022 at the age of 89 in the arms of her daughter, Shelley. Predeceased (2019) by her beloved husband and best friend of 65 years, Darrell Collins, she leaves behind her intensely proud children, Kathy Collins, David Collins (Joanne Lowry) and Shelley Collins (Marc Lachance). Cherished Nanny of Tim Bouchard; Doug, Troy and Shauna Collins; Ken and Mitchell Clark and great-grandma to Damon and Haley Bouchard; Lily and Landon Collins and Dawson Collins. Also survived by her sister, Shirley Clarke-Gardner whom she loved and adored immensely.  Predeceased by her parents J. Martin and Vera Clarke. Mom’s heart was broken beyond belief after Dad’s passing and time would not heal the wound. We are at peace knowing that they are together again for eternity. A family funeral will be held in the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Mom and Dad will be interred together immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dementia Society of Ottawa.
