Suzanne Cumyn

Obituary of Suzanne Cumyn

With her three sons at her side, Zanne died courageously after a short illness. Heartfelt thanks to Drs. Akcakir, Mulpuru and Naik and their staff for their compassionate medical attention.

Zanne graduated from Glebe Collegiate in 1948 and studied fine art at Mount Allison University. She worked in Ottawa as a graphic artist at the National Research Council, the federal government’s Communications Branch (now CSE) and at Energy Mines and Resources. Known for her elegance and delightful wit, Zanne loved visiting the National Gallery, attending the NAC, and strolling along the Rideau River and through the Mer Bleue Bog. She shared a love of art, music, theater, books and nature with her late husband George, sons Steven, Alan (Suzanne) and Richard (Sharon), granddaughters Gwenlyn (Sam), Anna (Malcolm), Vivien (Andrew) and Elizabeth (Sean), great-grandchildren Sophie and Hugh, nephews Cam (Kathy), Dave (Rosemary) and Glenn (Estella), niece Laurie, sister-in-law Ruth, and all the members of their wonderful families.

In lieu of a formal memorial service and flowers, please donate to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society or the fine arts organization of your choosing.
