Obituary of Ernestina Olaru

Ernestina “Ina” Olaru

1962 - 2022

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ernestina on Monday, May 2, 2022.

Loving mother of Aline “Alina”, dear daughter of Ionica “Buni” and sister to Roxana and Alina. She will be missed by many, many family and friends.

Ina was an extremely bright, empathetic and beautiful soul.  Always selfless and always generous and always had a kind word or witty remark prepared for her loved ones.

Ina graduated from her much loved high school Colegiul National Sfantul Sava in Bucharest, Romania in 1981.  She then pursued her university degree in civil engineering at the Institute of Construction and Engineering, finishing with a perfect “10” and ranking third in her graduating year.

Ina immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1993  where she gave birth to her daughter in 1995. She then moved to Ottawa in 1999 where she continued to pursue two more degrees, one at CDI College of Business and Technology and one at Cité Collégiale.  She then found a job she loved in insurance where she worked tirelessly.

She had a passion for reading, classical music, comedy and and adventuring with her daughter.

There will never be enough words to accurately capture the smart, beautiful person that she was, inside and out. We struggle to truly do her legacy justice. The world has lost a special human.

Aline and Buni wish to thank everyone for their kindness and compassion.  Every single thought and well-wish means so much and we are so thankful for you all.
