Obituary of Yvette Lucille O'Rourke

Yvette Lucille O’Rourke, aged 94, passed away peacefully in Ottawa on Friday January 14, 2022. Yvette is survived by her daughters Carol O’Rourke-Elliott and husband Robert (Bob) Elliott, Susan O’Rourke and husband Ian Cook, her daughter-in-law Mary Lou O’Rourke, her nephew on the Martel side Gilles Bourdeau, and her many nieces and nephews on the O’Rourke side and her grandchildren, Katie O’Rourke, Sean O’Rourke and Sarah O’Rourke. She was preceded in death by her husband John Bernard (Barney) O’Rourke, her son Michael O’Rourke and her sister Edna Bourdeau.  Yvette was born and married in Ottawa. She worked in cities across Canada and in Germany while raising her family with Barney, whose army career took the family to many postings. Retired in Ottawa, Yvette loved to entertain family and friends and hosted many family visitors, her sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews from across the country. Yvette was a devoted grandmother who loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was an avid traveler; she and Barney explored Canada and Europe together throughout their lives. Once widowed, Yvette continued to travel, visiting Vancouver regularly and travelled to France at age 88. She was loved by family and friends and will live on in our hearts and memories. Thank you to all the medical staff and caregivers for their excellent help and care over the past few years.  A memorial service followed by a reception will be held at Cole Funeral Services 2500 Baseline Rd., Ottawa on Saturday May 28 2022 at 1:00 pm. Please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Shepherds of Good Hope (Ottawa) in lieu of flowers.
