Obituary of Carl Philip Jakubowski

July 28, 1952 – January 2, 2022

Carl passed away at his home in Ottawa, ON after a lengthy struggle with MS. He was 69. The son of Walter and Muriel Jakubowski, Carl grew up and went to school in St. Bruno, QC.

Later he graduated from what was then Sir George Williams University in Montreal (Concordia) with a degree in Computer Science and went on to enjoy a successful and challenging career in the emerging high tech industry.

He is survived by his wife for 43 years, Janet MacLeod Jakubowski, and their children, Stefan (Jillian) and Ellen. He was a devoted father who enjoyed being involved in his children’s activities and shared with them his love of outdoor adventures.

Carl was an active, outgoing man who loved to participate in sports, especially skating and hockey. He enjoyed socializing with friends and family, and sharing with them the things that make good times even better: food, wine and music. For many years, he volunteered with Scouts Canada and was also active in the music and youth ministries at St Richard’s Anglican Church in Nepean. His favourite place was his cottage on the Northumberland shore of NS where he enjoyed many summer activities and the company of our east coast family.

Due to pandemic restrictions, a private service will be held for the family. Memorial donations can be made to Scouts Canada or the MS Society of Canada if desired.

The family is deeply grateful to all who provided care and support during Carl’s long illness, making it possible for him to pass away peacefully at home, especially the nursing staff from Bayshore Home Health, the Personal Support Workers from Bayshore Home Health and Carefor Health & Community Services, and the doctors from Community Palliative Medicine Associates.
