Obituary of Athena Diamantakos

November 1, 1930 - January 2, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Athena Diamantakos (nee Gianakos) on Sunday, January 2,  2022 at the age of 91 years. Beloved wife of John of 62 years and mother of the late George Diamantakos. She will be dearly missed by many family and friends in Canada and Greece.  Survived by her sister Vasiliki (the late Andreas).  Predeceased by her parents Dimitrios and Maria, her sister Despina (Pavlos) and brother Peter (Vasiliki).  Sister-in-law of Jim (the late Olympia), Vasiliki (the late Kiriakos) and the late Petros in Greece.  Athena was a dedicated and loving mother and wife. She was a kind and loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews.  The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to family and friends for all the support given to Athena and John during these difficult times. A special thanks to the many medical and nursing staff in our community for their care and support. Due to the current restrictions, a private visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday January 7, 2022 at Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church (1315 Prince of Wales Drive) at 11:45 a.m. followed by a private Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m.

Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers to the Hellenic Community of Ottawa or the Canadian Cancer Society.
