So sorry to find this news. Suzette and Leighton were wonderful friends and neighbours of my parents. After they were gone, Suzette and I kept in touch with phone calls and visits when I was in Ottawa. I will miss our conversations. She was always so gracious and so supportive when my husband died. She lived a full life. One we could all emulate.

I would like to extend my sympathy and condolences to Suzette's family. I have very fond memories of Dr. Leighton Smith and Suzette in Amberwood Village and Longboat Key, Fla. My father (Lennox Mills) and I had some great fun playing doubles.
They were a wonderful couple.

Suzette was my mother’s sister.
A devout Catholic who was adventurous, kind, creative and fun loving.
Suzette was very practical if something needed to be done, she rolled up her sleeves and got it done. She was not one to complain.
She was a brilliant seamstress and I sometimes would send her things and she would mend them for me.
She was sporty. She told me as a 16 year old, she would take the train from Montreal to go skiing up North for the weekend with friends. The fact her parents let her do that amazed both of us when she recounted me the story.
Suzette loved swimming, tennis, golf, skiing, playing bridge, and for some reason loved watching baseball. (I never figured that one out).
She was generous, generous woman.
The world was made a kinder, safer place because of Suzette.
She adored her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
Her whole face lit up when she spoke about them, and she was so incredibly proud of their accomplishments. Suzettes grandchildren were her raison d’etre in her later years, being a grandmother and then great grandmother brought her so much joy.
Suzette managed to find the silver lining in every situation.
Our lives were all made richer because she was in it.
I imagine a big party in heaven when she got there, all of her friends and family, asking her what took her so long. She had a good run and showed us all what was possible when we approach life with faith and gratitude for what we have rather than looking at what is missing from our lives.
That dash between 1920 and 2021 was well lived, well loved and made a positive impact in the world.
It was a privilege to know her, love her and be loved by her.

Thinking about Suzette today and reflecting on what an enduring, interesting, and wonderful life she had. Our lives were made that much better by her gentleness, her great stories, and wisdom.
