Eldric "Ernie" Joseph LeBlanc

WWII Veteran, Owner Ernie’s Electric Service

Mar 29, 1925 - Aug 21, 2021

Ernie will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all. He passed away on Aug 21st due to a stroke at the age of 96.  He will be leaving behind his devoted wife Agnes (Bourassa), with whom he was married for 68 years, and his four daughters Lorraine (Todd), Suzanne Gervais (Ken), Janet (Don) and Dianne Lawton (Peter). He will be missed by his grandchildren Michael (Alaina), David, Stephen, Camille, Michel (Diana), Gregory (Jessica), James, Kealey, and William.

Ernie was born in Wedgeport (Yarmouth Co), Nova Scotia the son of Adolphe and Mary (Muise) LeBlanc.  He is survived by his brother Alcide and sister Clerise Smith. He was pre-deceased by brothers Clarence and Stanley and sisters Marydale and Lillian.

In WWII he answered the call of duty at the young age of 18. He spent 469 days overseas and served in England, Scotland, Holland, Germany, and France.

Ernie was the proud owner of Ernie’s Electric Service.  In his spare time, he spent summers at his cottage in Norway Bay, Quebec with Agnes, and family. He enjoyed playing golf at the Norway Bay Golf Course for many years, with family and friends, and where at the age of 88 he shot a 44. He also proudly had a hole in one at the Ottawa Hunt Club.  He and Agnes would spend their winters in Freeport (Port Lucaya), Grand Bahamas. The family would join them with the grandkids to enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Bahamas, the golf, and Bahama Mama’s!

In lieu of flowers donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation, University of Ottawa Heart Institute, CHEO, or Ottawa Riverkeepers would be appreciated.

A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at St. Edward’s Church in Bristol, Quebec, and internment at Norway Bay Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Condolences or great stories of Ernie’s life and good times can be made at www.colefuneralservices.com.
