Obituary of Mary Patricia (Paddy) Hanley-Godkin
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paddy Hanley-Godkin. Paddy passed peacefully Thursday evening after a sudden brief illness, surrounded by her husband and daughters.
The matriarch of a family is always a great loss, but Paddy will be missed by more than the immediate family. She taught all that she interacted with that love is in action: preparing a meal of your favourite foods, baking wonderful pies and “favourite son-in-law” squares, gifting a painting designed just for you, or sharing a story of wonder or humour about the latest trip she and Robert had enjoyed. In a world where there is divide and strife, Paddy brought a kind and open heart. She embraced life and those around her.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert; daughters Maura (Paul), Ann (Dave), Tara (Todd) and Sharon (Keith); step children Corey and Sheryl (Keith); grandchildren Sean, Ian, Drew, Mitchell, Aurora, Kaylee, Meghan, Madeline; great-grandchildren Carson and Clayton; and brother Kevin (Debbie) as well a great many dear friends.
Although we grieve the loss of Paddy, we celebrate the life she lived and everybody she touched. Today we are lost in pain, but through her teachings we will walk with strength, honour, and pride knowing we will carry on her legacy in some small way. If friends so desire, memorial donations made to FAMSAC Food Cupboard, Bells Corners would be appreciated.
