Obituary of Bing Qing Chen
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bingqing Chen. with family by her side, on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at the age of 86. Bingqing was a devoted wife of 64 years to Yulin Ye; Loving mother to Hong, Bin, and Ying; Survived by her sister Yuqing Chen, and brother Weiguang Chen, and cousin Xuehua Xia; Cherished grandmother of Yuan Yuan and Koh; Dear great grandma of Rey; Fondly remembered by sons-in-law Hao, Takao, and Winghui; Greatly Missed by many nieces and nephews: Yi Shen, Nianchun Ye, Xin Ye, Meng Ye, Qing Ye, Hong Wang, Qing Zhang, and by extended family. She graduated from university in Shanghai and moved to Xian with her husband in response to the government's call in late 1950s. She lived there for 40 years until retired from a full career. In both her personal and professional life, she always gave of her best, got things done, and was very thoughtful of others. She demonstrated fearless strength of character in difficult times with wit and determination. She served as a strong female role model for her daughters and grand daughter, being independent, intellectual and calm. Her dedication to family was always evident and very touching. Entering her late 80s, she continued to carry the role to look after aging husband who had several small strokes, until her own health took a turn for the worse. She had a big stroke in Sept 2019 and later diagnosed with late stage lymphoma in December. She was an avid reader. Always with stacks of books collecting at her bed side, and often read past midnight. Her favorite novel is Dream of the Red Chamber. She will be dearly missed by MingChui Zheng, Lizhu Shen, Huiqun Zhang and all who knew her. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many healthcare professionals at Bruyère - Saint-Vincent Hospital, for their dedicated and compassionate care. Due to the developments with COVID 19 pandemic and travel restrictions, the visitation is cancelled, and memorial with family will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Bruyère Foundation in support of their amazing staff and care they provide, in memoriam of Bingqing Chen.
