Obituary of Phyllis Eva Hunt

Peacefully at the May Court Hospice on Friday October 16, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 99 years. Phyllis grew up on Bayswater Avenue in Ottawa and attended Devonshire Public School and the High School of Commerce. During the war she joined the RCMP Intelligence Branch as a stenography and after 17 years left to raise a family with her beloved late husband Frank of 44 years. Phyllis was especially close to her youngest sister Nancy who just recently passed but she always had a special place in heart for her late brother and sisters Jim, Jean and Gladys. She is remembered dearly by her cousin Mary Ellen Moore. She will be greatly missed by her daughter and son, Patricia and Shawn and son-in-law Jon. She had a profound impact on everyone she knew and she will be loving remembered by her nieces and nephews Jeff and David; Marsha and Maureen; John, Shelley Jennifer and Scott; Michael and Kelly; Alison and Christopher; She kept in contact with her late husband Frank’s nieces and nephews in Newfoundland especially Nancy Dawson and the late Billy Houlihan. Growing up and working in Ottawa, she is remembered by her close friend, Norma Cummings, and predeceased by her good friends Shirley Lahey, Shirley Droughan and Doris Galt. She loved her many trips to Newfoundland, England, Florida, Vermont and lately her shopping trips to Northern New York State where she could always find a good bargain. We are thankful for the time we had and memories we share and have been blessed for Phyllis’s ninety nine years. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the May Court Hospice for their exceptional care, kindness and compassion. As Phyllis leaves this world we are inspired by words, “Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and put out my hand and touched the face of God” by John Gillespie Magee. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hospice Care Ottawa.
