Obituary of Candido Petti

Peacefully, surrounded by love and with his family by his side, our Dad, Nonno, and Big Nonno passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the age of 90.

Beloved husband of Rita (Liberata) for 54 years. Loving father of Maria (Leo), Emanuele (Jessica), and Sandra (Marco). Cherished Nonno to Christopher, Deanna, Candice, Samantha, Ciera, Mason, Candido, and Averie. Big Nonno to his great-grandchildren Leo, Eva, Cameron, Rafi, Evie, Dominic, and Oscar. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends in Canada, the U.S., and Italy.

The last in his line, he was predeceased by his parents Bersabea Pucella and Emanuele Petti, and by his siblings Nicola Petti, Carmela Giovanitti, Michele Petti, and Angelina Silvaroli.

Born in 1935 in Oratino, Campobasso, Italy, Candido immigrated to Canada in 1954, where he began to build his life and family through hard work and determination. He lived a long and full life, often saying, “I would rather live a year as a lion than ten years as a lamb.” In true form, the “last hand” was his—and he played it beautifully.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Civic Hospital Dialysis Unit, especially Sara and Janine, for their kind and compassionate care, and to all who cared for him during his final days.

Friends and family may pay their respects at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, ON K2C 3H9) on Monday, November 17th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A service will be held on Tuesday, November 18th at 10:30 a.m. at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, followed by entombment.
