Obituary of Maureen Hayes
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maureen, who left us peacefully on Oct 2, 2025 at the age of 91, born on June 4, 1934, in London, England. Maureen was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Terry Hayes. Maureen was full of kindness, humour, and unwavering love; she touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Maureen was the proud loving mother of Tracy, Scott, Darrin & Dale, who will be forever grateful for her love and support. Nana to Garrett, Sarah, Cole & Raven; Grand Nana to Ruby and Troy. Dear daughter of the late Cornelius and Gladys Bell. Dear sister of Connie, Teddy, Ernie, Hettie, & Sarah.
Maureen grew up in bombed out London during WWII, for her safety she was sent to Blackpool to pick hops, often reminiscing of her days in that area of England. Maureen immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s and was later the Traffic Manager at CJOH for many decades. At CJOH she found the love of her life and started deep meaningful friendships that would last the rest of her life. She was an immensely charitable person, volunteering at the CHEO Telethon for over 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, curling and golfing but most of all she was a very loving and kind human being. She will always be loved and greatly missed by all those that knew her.
