Zak loved playing peek-a-boo with Don when he was a wee babe and our visits to Ottawa were filled with joy after seeing and playing with him whether it was leaves in the garden or in the pumpkin patch or with the wee dog. We have the fondest memory of Zak coming to spend time with us in Winnipeg when he was a young lad. Oh, he loved Abigale the cat and she loved him but he was so allergic. Those allergies were what kept that from becoming a summer ritual. Even so, he loved animals and later shared the joy he had in fostering a bunch of kittens. We are grateful to have shared many milestones throughout Zak's life but most of all we are thankful that Louise and Zak came to visit us last summer. Zak was a kind and gentle soul offering to come and stay with us and help me with his grandfather as we cope with his dementia. He understood that the pandemic kept us from seeing him along with his grandfather's illness. But, of course, we wish we could have been with Zak more often.
You were loved Zachary Erskine - and you always will be in our hearts and minds. We are planting a tree in our garden in your memory next to Will's.

I knew Zak mostly in his younger years and I will say his laugh was infectious! There always seemed to be an adventure in progress when Zac was around! Zak my man, you were one of the kindest and most loving people I had ever met. You had a way to put a positive spin on anything we talked about often out on the bike. I met Zak at my first road race and since then we had been good friends. Really really wish we got out for a few more rides and you will be on my mind every time I'm on 2 wheels.
