Obituary of Thomas Beverley Booth
In Loving Memory of Thomas Beverley Booth (1943 – 2025)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Beverley Booth, who died peacefully at Grace Manor on August 18, 2025.
Born in Ottawa in 1943, Tom was predeceased by his beloved parents, Gwynneth and Beverley Booth. He is survived by his daughter Pamela Hooper (Mark), and was a proud and loving grandfather to Lukas and Abigail.
Tom will be deeply missed by his brothers, Timothy (Heather) and Jonathan. Tim, who cared for Tom over the last 15 years, provided unwavering support—coordinating his medical appointments, hospital stays, and day-to-day needs. Jonathan will fondly remember their weekly visits, often spent in passionate conversations about visual art and thoughtful readings from the local newspaper. Tom is also lovingly remembered by his cousin Barbara Booth and his niece Sarah Booth (David).
A quiet man of few words, Tom possessed a deeply thoughtful and perceptive mind.
In his late teens, he managed a Kodak store in Ottawa, later spending a year with the Canadian government photographing dignitaries. He went on to enjoy a distinguished 33-year career as a forensic photographer with the RCMP, where his precision and skill left a lasting impact.
Tom’s passions were as rich and detailed as his photographs. He had an extensive collection of jazz and blues music, a deep admiration for Ferrari race cars, and a fascination with military aircraft. For many years, he captured high-speed moments at races in St. Jovite and Mosport, often gaining access to unfenced areas for a closer view of the action. His motorsports photography was extraordinary—full of motion, suspense, and clarity. With a blend of technical mastery and artistic vision, Tom had the rare ability to photograph a race car moving at 200 mph with such crisp precision that it appeared frozen in time.
His home reflected his love of both photography and family, always adorned with treasured pictures of his grandchildren throughout their early years.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated Ottawa Homecare staff at "The Court" in Barrhaven, the team at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus (4th floor), and all of Tom’s caregivers and sitters for their compassion and care.
Tom’s quiet strength, artistic talent, and thoughtful presence will be remembered always.
Rest In Peace Tom
