Obituary of Suzanne Morneau

We are deeply saddened to share that Suzanne Morneau passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at age 60. Her final weeks were filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of those closest to her.  Known for her love of life and boundless energy, Suzanne lived life on her own terms – boldly, generously, and with a spark that lit up every room she entered.

Suzanne truly embraced her summer—traveling to Milan and London with family to celebrate Phillip’s graduation from University College London. She attended Jacob’s Engineering Graduation Ceremony at the University of Ottawa, another moment she cherished deeply.

She leaves two beloved sons, Phillip (Kyra) and Jacob Williams (Susana Trespalacios Vargas), who were the pride and joy of her life, and their devoted father, Rodger Williams. Her memory will live on through her two adored granddaughters, Arielle and Jasmine.

Suzanne will be profoundly missed by her elderly mother, Ghislaine, and her caring siblings Sylvie, Hélène (Louis Bergeron), and Richard (Chantal Neault). Her lifelong and closest friend Nathalie Goodman (Stephen Goodman), who was her rock through life’s ups and downs will miss her dearly. Her partner, Ken Blackburn, who brought companionship and tenderness to her final years, will grieve Suzanne more than words can express. Also bereaved are Suzanne’s nephews and nieces Raphael, David, Charles, Alexandra, Dania and Stéphanie.

Suzanne dedicated over thirty years to teaching elementary school children in Stitsville. She will be fondly remembered by families in the community, along with a wide circle of colleagues, as a passionate educator and a co-worker who brought warmth, great humour, and heart to every staff room.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Derek Jonker, the nursing staff at the Irving Greenberg Cancer Center, and Dr. Daniel Chapman (Suzanne’s family doctor) for their exceptional care, compassion, and support throughout Suzanne’s illness.

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous vous informons du décès de Suzanne Morneau survenu le samedi 26 juillet 2025 alors qu’elle était entourée de toute sa famille. Elle était âgée de 60 ans.

Connue pour son amour de la vie et son énergie débordante, Suzanne a vécu à sa manière — avec audace, générosité et cette étincelle unique qui illuminait chaque pièce où elle entrait.

Elle laisse dans le deuil ses deux fils bien-aimés, Phillip et Jacob Williams, qui faisaient sa fierté et sa joie, ainsi que leur père dévoué, Rodger Williams, avec qui elle a partagé un chapitre profond et significatif de sa vie. Ses deux petites-filles adorées, Arielle et Jasmine, porteront également sa mémoire.

Elle manquera profondément à sa mère Ghislaine, ses sœurs Sylvie et Hélène (Louis Bergeron) ainsi qu’à son frère Richard (Chantal Neault). Il en sera de même pour sa meilleure amie de toujours, Nathalie Goodman (Stephen Goodman), son pilier au fil des années, et pour son compagnon des dernières années, Ken Blackburn, qui lui a offert tendresse et réconfort. Ses neveux et nièces — Raphaël, David, Charles, Alexandra, Dania et Stéphanie — pleurent eux aussi sa perte. Tous ressentiront un vide que les mots ne sauraient exprimer.

Suzanne a consacré plus de trente ans à enseigner au primaire dans la communauté de Stittsville, en Ontario. Elle restera dans la mémoire des nombreuses familles qu’elle a touchées, ainsi que dans celle de ses collègues, comme une éducatrice passionnée et chaleureuse, pleine d’humour et de cœur.

Pour leurs soins exceptionnels, leur compassion et leur soutien tout au long de la maladie de Suzanne, la famille tient à exprimer toute sa gratitude :au Dr Derek Jonker et au personnel du centre de cancérologie Erving Greenberg de l’hôpital Queensway Carleton;au Dr Daniel Chapman, son médecin de famille.

Une célébration de la vie de Suzanne aura lieu le samedi 23 août 2025, de 14 h à 16 h,
