Obituary of Jacoby Snapper
It is with great sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our mother, Coby, on July 31, 2025.
Born in Utrecht, The Netherlands, one of 9 children, Coby was fiercely independent, with an indomitable spirit, partially shaped by the suffering she and her family endured during WWII.
Coby lived life to the fullest, always seeking adventure & opportunities to travel, socialize or enjoy a good meal out, right to the very last minute. Her radiant smile, sense of fashion, and contagious laughter, endeared her to everyone she knew.
In 1954 Coby & Jack came to Canada to work towards a better life for their family. Here they joined Coby’s mother, and many of Coby’s siblings, who had made the decision to emigrate from the Netherlands earlier.
Coby & Jack loved the beautiful & wild outdoors of Canada, and together, took every opportunity to camp & cottage, hike & bike, and cross country ski, all while building a successful life and raising their 4 children.
After her retirement from the CRA at age 60, Coby, together with Jack, embarked on a life of travel and adventure, both abroad and in Canada. There was no place Coby did not want to visit, and no opportunity she did not embrace. In later years, Coby also enjoyed many adventures and trips abroad with her beloved sister, Tiny.
Predeceased by Jack in 2014, Coby leaves behind her 4 devoted children, Marian (Greg), Dianne (Claude), Rick (Pauline), Linda (Stephen), one sister Tiny, two brothers Paul & John, as well as many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
Heartfelt gratitude goes out to the wonderful staff at Brookside Retirement Living, where Coby lived this last year, after finally moving from her family home in 2024.
Friends and family are invited to join the Celebration of Coby’s life on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Followed by Burial & Reception.
