Obituary of Phillip Assad
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phillip Assad, on June 18th 2025, at the age of 71.
Known for his warm smile, quick wit, and generosity, he brightened every room he entered and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or a perfectly timed joke, he had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved. His legacy is not just in what he accomplished, but in how he made others feel—uplifted, encouraged, and deeply connected.
Born on December 13, 1953, in Trinidad and Tobago, Phillip later made Toronto his home, where he built a life rooted in love, strength, and determination. At an early age, he developed a passion for fixing things—a talent that extended far beyond tools and mechanics.
Devoted husband of Susan, and a loving father to Rachel (Adam) and Ryan (Reem) and a cherished grandfather to Johnny, Brady, Aidan and Charles. His family was his greatest pride and joy, and he dedicated his life to their happiness and well-being.
He will be remembered for his fun-loving ways, kind heart, endless wisdom, and his quiet strength. Though he may be gone, the warmth he shared and the lives he touched will never be forgotten.
A viewing and funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27th, 2025 at Cole Funeral Services at Highland Park Cemetery: 2037 McGee Side Road, Carp, Ottawa, Ontario followed by a celebration of Phillip’s life at his daughter’s home.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time and would love if you could write your special connection or memory with Phillip on the Tribute wall.
