Obituary of Lyall Mulligan
Lyall Findlay Mulligan
29 February 1956 - 24 May 2025
Lyall, a fun-loving, kind-hearted man, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Carp, Ontario, Lyall was the beloved son of Grace and Gordon Mulligan. He was predeceased by his siblings Calvin, Trevor, and Dawna, and is now joyfully reunited with them.
Known for his warm smile, quick wit, and boundless generosity, Lyall brightened every room he entered and left a lasting impression. To know Lyall was to love him, and to be loved by Lyall was a gift beyond measure.
Devoted husband of Bernice (nee McKenna), and proud father to Matthew (Jessica), Kyle (Debbie), and Kaitlyn, and a cherished grandfather to Ryan, Grace, Elizabeth, Emily, and Elena - each of whom he adored. He found immense happiness spending time with his family, their laughter, accomplishments, and presence in his life he deeply treasured. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Lyall will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his extended McKenna family Rose (Ian), Bernard (Barb), Gerard (Susan), Pat (Annette), Mike (Kelly), Mary Frances, Loretta, Joan, Pauline (Darryl), Thomas (Natasha), the late Theresa (Mike) and his nieces and nephews.
Lyall took great pride in his work. He found his calling as a truck driver, a career he loved and excelled at, finding joy in the open road, the camaraderie of fellow drivers, and the satisfaction of a job well done. His years behind the wheel were filled with stories, adventure, and a deep connection to the people and places he encountered along the way.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff from Bayshore Home Care Solutions and Dr. T Jennings along with the compassionate staff and volunteers at the Ruddy Shenkman Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Lyall's final days. Their kindness provided comfort and peace to Lyall and his family.
Lyall's legacy is one of unwavering kindness, a zest for life, and his special gift of connecting with everyone he met. He leaves behind a profound impact and will be deeply missed by his family, countless friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Lyall’s warmth and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Christ Church, 3008 Carp Road followed by a celebration of Lyall’s life at Highland Park Reception Centre, 2037 McGee Side Road.
