I sadly learned of Doug's passing because an email to him bounced back, and I looked for this.
Doug and I were both on CKCU-FM on Saturday mornings, and we volunteered together at a music event on Sunday night. To my wife and I, Doug was one of our closest friends in the first days of our relationship. A few months later, in 1980, I moved to my wife's hometown in Pennsylvania where I now live. But it was always a pleasure to trade emails with him and to hear about his life with Polly, and then his return to Ottawa. I was looking forward to seeing him at a CKCU reunion later in November ... I will have to wait longer, now.

Oh my goodness, I am so, so sorry to hear about Doug's passing, of which I have just learned about. Doug was very involved in helping look after Ken Grant (CFRA) in the final year of Ken's life. That is how I came to know him. I organized Ken's Celebration of Life and Doug was one of our speakers. He was a lovely, kind man and I will miss him.

Doug was a very kind gentle man. We worked together on the Asher board for a few years. His jokes, stories and skits at the Legacy meetings were always funny. He will be missed. My sincere sympathies to Doug's family.

Doug was a great friend and mentor to Bethel’s Youth Group and his godliness and mentorship, to our daughters in particular, is greatly appreciated. He was a fellow worker, with us, in God’s vineyard in Legacy + and the Zoom Senior’s Bible Study. He will be missed! His humor and his love for coffee was remarkable.

The years Doug and Polly ministered in Saskatchewan, they became very close friends. We could call or visit anytime and their hearts and arms were always open to hear us, pray for us and champion us.
We will miss Doug very much as he was such a gift to us, even after Polly passed away, he continued to connect. That was Doug! Together, Doug and Polly lived out their calling that touched our lives and all who knew them. They will be forever loved.
