Obituary of Caren Lyn Zapp
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Caren on May 15th 2025, at the age of 50, after a courageous battle with cancer. Caren passed peacefully with family and friends by her bedside. Caren always looked for the joy in life and made a memorable impression on those she met. She was a loving person who welcomed everyone with open arms and worked tirelessly to remember every detail of every engagement she had regardless of size, time or station. Caren was born in New Westminster to Sandi and Randy Pattenden. She will be deeply missed by her sisters Heather (Todd Ayley) and Brenda Pattenden, and extended family. Caren had an active childhood in her hometown of Burnaby BC, involved in dance, theater, Guiding, and many school activities. At the age of 26 Caren and Jason moved to Ottawa to follow their careers. There they raised three wonderful children, daughters Laura and Sydney and son Andrew. Caren could always be heard on the sidelines or in the stands supporting her children in their many activities in the Stittsville community. A special thanks to the nurses and doctors who cared for Caren at the Ottawa General Hospital and the Queensway Carleton Hospital. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice. A celebration of life in Caren’s memory will be held in Stittsville at 3pm, on Saturday June 7, 2025 at NeXT, 6400 Hazeldean Rd. A second celebration of life will be held in Burnaby, BC at a later date to be announced.
