Obituary of Margrit Dorotee Chang (née Rogall)

April 10, 1944 – May 16, 2025

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Margrit Chang, age 81, on Friday, May 16, 2025 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Margrit was born in Germany and lived most of her life in Canada. She loved the outdoors, and was known for her mischievous streak, resourcefulness, creativity, and compassion. Her greatest enjoyment came from family, travelling to new places and meeting new people. She will be remembered by many as a force of nature and for her honest and direct communication.

She was a best friend and loving wife to Keith for 60 years. She will be greatly missed by her children Nicole (Dan), Tanya (Mark), Mikael aka Tyson (Beth), and Maya as well as her grandchildren Rachel, Jason, Cole, Duncan and Nettie. She is also survived by her sisters Karla and Ella, and her nieces and nephews (Guido, Angela, Markus and Kira). She will also be fondly remembered by many as Auntie Margrit. She will be deeply missed by her husband, children and their families as well as the many people whose lives she touched.

The family is grateful to first responders, the ER staff at the Arnprior Hospital, and ICU staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their compassion and care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated, or simply an act of kindness towards someone in need.

A Celebration of Margrit’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Words of Remembrance at 2:00 p.m. at Cole Funeral Services & Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario.
